Neighborhood block party

We have a neighborhood party every year, and last year, I was nominated to host it this year. The summer has come and gone and now I was reminded of the party. We usually have it at someone's house, and everybody brings their own meat to grill and a salad/dessert to share. My question is, since it's getting more into fall, what about a soup party? Everyone brings a different kind of soup. I will provide the bowls and crackers/bread? I am mostly concerned about the kids...how many kids will go for something like this? My kids eat certain kinds of soup and usually love it, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Great idea for an Autumn Block Party. To keep the kids happy, add sandwiches to the soup selections and make sure PB&J sandwiches are on the list.
