How I Built This SiteAs the webmaster and owner of Fun Theme Party Ideas.com, I would like to share "my story" about how I built a successful website while at home with my kids. It all started back in 1998. You know, the life changing experience of becoming a parent. And with this joyous event brought the difficult decision of going back to work, or becoming a stay at home mom. I’m sure all moms (and dads) struggle with this issue. Each brings advantages and disadvantages, which are unique to every mom and family. For me, I thought I could be better by staying at home. The big problem- how could I make this work financially? Leaving a comfortable professional job for an uncertain future is never an easy decision! I started the eBay route. I became a Powerseller rather quickly, and still am to this day. It is definitely time consuming work, with low profit margins. I knew I needed to diversify, being free of the ever-changing eBay policies and lean take home pay. For years, I wanted to build my own website, but I had no idea how to do it. I wanted to make money online like so many others have. The only problem is, I am not a techie or computer geek! I had lots of ideas, but was constantly limited by a lack of technical knowledge. I tried everything over the years. I’ve tried free web hosting with template builders which were very limiting. I’ve purchased the “1000’s of website templates” on eBay, only to find out I need special software to edit them. And good old Microsoft Front Page- which I’m convinced you need a Doctorate in order to use… Then in 2005, I stumbled onto Site Build It (SBI). I was skeptical at first, but studied it for a long time. I guess you can say I’m a very scrutinizing shopper. I had heard so many get-rich-quick schemes over the years, and I wanted to be sure it wasn’t another one. I finally decided to give it a go. My final deciding factor was their money back guarantee, and I was fully prepared to use it! It was an amazing tool to have. I had no idea how to build a page or anything about html. I built pages rather quickly and my site was up and running. As with anything, it did take time and persistence. It is amazing to see how far my site has come, and the pride I have when I receive each and every monthly affiliate check. Site Build It has given me a tremendous opportunity. I’m able to stay home with my kids and enjoy watching them grow up. I have more time since I don’t have to commute, and no boss to answer to. If I want to take time out of my day to kick a ball with my kids, I can. What a wonderful benefit. It’s been an exciting and rewarding experience.
