Boyfriend's 28th Birthday Party Ideas

I am trying to get some ideas for my boyfreinds 28th birthday! He has a November birthday and I'm not sure what to do. I would like to do something elegant, but cost effective. He loves football and fishing! Not sure if I should incorporate something like that into his birthday or not.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

A party can be elegant and rustic. I suggest using the fishing party theme for your party. Drape the tables with burlap fabric and fishing nets. Use old fashioned lanterns for lighting.

Model ships could serve as great centerpieces for the food or cake table. A fishing basket, with carved wooden fish hanging out would be nice as well.
