Baby showers can be held at any time of day and can either be a surprise or involve the mom-to-be in the planning process.

Activity Ideas

• Roast the mom-to-be. Include all kinds of funny memories and jokingly reflect on what kind of mom she'll be! Be sure to videotape as a keepsake.
• Is the mom-to-be known for any particular hobby or activity? How about an all-inclusive activity such as bowling or based on her interests such as a natural history museum.
• Gambling on a winner? Choose a casino night as a couples shower theme.
• Baby predictions theme. Will the baby be a boy or girl? A football star or Tazmanian Devil? Use a fortune telling theme complete with palm readings and crystal balls.
• Pamper the mom-to-be. You can pamper her with a day at the spa complete with manicures, pedicures, and massages. It can take place at the spa itself, or create a pajama party for in-home pampering.
• Create a time capsule to be opened in five years. Include some of her cherished pre-baby items and a questionnaire about what she thinks motherhood will be like. Make a video of the party to include in her time capsule.
• Videotape funny parenting advice for the couple.
• Murder mystery party with a honeymooning script. Purchase murder mystery scripts or use a local murder mystery company to host the event.
• Hold a scrapbook party to put together memorable events in the couple's lives. It is a nice keepsake to for the couple or to be given to the new baby.
• Take a day cruise on a local body of water.
• Hire a caricature artist to predict what the baby will look like. The artist will look at the exaggerated traits of the couple (only ones that they wouldn't mind laughing at) and create a silly prediction of the baby-to-be.
